Drought in Mauritius

A song written in about 1985 whilst visiting Mauritius during a severe drought.
Music to follow (Calypso beat)

Verse 1
Went to sleep under a coconut palm
With a Green Island rum to keep me from harm
Woke up with this song pounding on my brain
Had to let it in and let it out again

 Chorus
Ain’t no more water in the world
It’s driving me insane
Somebody pulled the plug out
It’s all gone down the drain

 Verse 2
Went down to the oceanarium
To see the little fish in the aquarium
The tanks were dry – but the fish were all there
Wearing breathing apparatus to survive in the air

 Chorus
Ain’t no more water in the world
It’s driving me insane
Somebody pulled the plug out
It’s all gone down the drain

Verse 3
Took a walk to the beach for some surfing fun
But the sea was all gone, the rocks in the sun
Not a cloud in the sky, it left me quite numb
So I had to revert to my Green Island rum.

 Chorus
Ain’t no more water in the world
It’s driving me insane
Somebody pulled the plug out
It’s all gone down the drain
